There was no doubt in my mind that Thia Megia would land in the top 10. Aside from her singing prowess which is a feat in itself at her age, she also has the look or as Steven Tyler would always say: "total package", needed to become the next American Idol.

Thia joins other finalists Scotty McCreery, Pia Toscano, Lauren Alaina, Karen Rodriguez, Jacob Lusk, Casey Abrams, Paul McDonald, Haley Reinhart, and James Durbin plus three wild card candidates (Stefano Langone, Ashthon Jone and Naima Adedapo).

With the latest crop of singers, this season's American Idol is something I would watch and keep tabs on.

Pacquiao May Play Alongside Justin Bieber In NBA All Star Celebrity Game

When I came across this article my thought was: "Oh that explains why Manny Pacquiao sports a Justin Bieber hairstyle." LOL.

Seriously, there is no confirmation yet, as of this writing, whether Pacquiao is playing but the All Star Celebrity game will be at LA's Staples Center on February 20 and will be telecast on ABS-CBN and Studio 23.

If this pushes through, it will be one good advertisement for the upcoming Manny Pacquiao-Shane Mosley match on May 7.

New Wave Duo China Crisis in Manila

English pop-rock duo Gary Daly and Eddie Lundon—popularly known to music fans as China Crisis—are both delighted to be back in Manila to perform once again for their Filipino supporters.

China Crisis will be staging a two-night concert starting tomorrow, January 21, at the Eastwood Mall Open Park, Eastwood City in Quezon City, and on Saturday, January 22, at the Venice Piazza, McKinley Hill in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

Some of the singles popularized by Gary and Eddie include "Black Man Ray," "King in a Catholic Style," Tragedy and Mystery," "African and White," and their biggest hit, "Wishful Thinking."

Willie Revillame's New Show

Willie Revillame has made a successful launch of his new show. Read here. The game show is scheduled to air daily at 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., a time slot dominated by evening news. That, while ABS-CBN is still pursuing it's case against Willie for claims that he is still under contract with them until September 2011.

Willie reportedly made P40 million a month as host of the ABS-CBN's Wowowee. Unfortunately, a falling out between the host and the network happened several months ago.

According to the Inquirer: "The TV host sued the network for P11.5 million for violating his contract, while ABS-CBN filed a countersuit seeking P486 million in damages from Revillame."

Is Sam Pinto, Gab Valenciano's GF after Rachelle Ann Go?

ABS-CBN reported that Gab Valenciano (Gary Valenciano's singer-dancer son) has twitted and posted a pic of him and Sam Pinto (Pinoy Big Brother participant) while they were in Boracay. Rumors naturally surfaced about them being an item. Both have denied any wooing or relationship going on. Gab said he just got out of a relationship with Rachelle Ann Go and he is not about to start a new one just yet. On the other hand, Sam is being rumored to be dating Wowowee's Willie Revillame.

As to what comes out of this friendship between Gab and Sam, we'll just wait and see.

It's tax season once again and the IRS is running after some high profile celebrities to collect tax money. Below is a list of celebrities who had been slapped with charges:

1. Pamela Anderson was charged $1,700,173 tax lien in October 2009 and the State of California filed a $252,360 lien against her on April 2009.

2. Joe Francis, the founder of the "Girls Gone Wild" video empire, was charged $29,393,681.45 tax lien in March 2010.

3. Nicolas Cage owes the IRS $13,330,372.83--the sum of accumulated tax liens for taxes unpaid in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007 and 2008.

4. Comedian Sinbad owes more than $8.15 million in delinquent taxes.

5. Terrence Howard was charged $1,129,219.17 tax lien for income tax unpaid in 2007 and 2008, according to The Detroit News Tax Watchdog.

The horrors of having your privacy violated by paparazzis stalking you everywhere you go makes you think sometimes if wealth or fame is worth all of this. Perhaps that's the silver lining for ordinary mortals who do not have to dodge cameras or flit from their vehicle to their destination in a huff. But then again, if you are one who makes it to the Forbes list for being the most influential or the wealthiest celebrity, maybe it's just a matter of taking it all in stride.

I'm no celebrity and I don't make as much as they do so I wouldn't know for sure.

Anne Curtis and Sam Milby of Babe, I Love You, are Working this Holy Week

"As one of the longest-staying celebrities of TV5, it was fitting that Lucy Torres-Gomez opened the program for the grand re-launch of TV5 called "Para Sa'yo, Kapatid" last March 25 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

Of course, there is no better way to welcome her new "Kapatids" in the network than to show them her dancing skills, which she has always credited from hosting the top-rating dance show Shall We Dance.

In a quick interview with the celebrity host after the trade launch, she expressed how happy she is that her TV5 family is already growing.

"Ganun lang naman sa TV5, we'll just have as much fun as we can. Hopefully, 'yon ang makikita ng tao na nag-e-enjoy lang talaga kami at sana dahil doon mag-e-enjoy din sila," she told PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal).

In her earlier days with TV5, when it was still trying to get its share of spotlight from the two giant networks—ABS-CBN and GMA-7—Lucy was joined by only a few celebrities. Most of them were usually "borrowed" from other networks. Now, with the revamped TV5, the TV host-dancer will be joined with more local celebrities who transferred from the other TV networks."

Oh, so TV 5 calls their talents as "kapatid" (meaning brother or sister). It's fitting and in the same level as ABS-CBN's "kapamilya" (family member) and GMA's "kapuso" (one heart / of the same heart?). The relaunch of TV 5 gives the war between the original 2 networks a new perspective. The exciting part of all this is seeing who among the original kapuso or kapamilya talents will transfer and become a kapatid.

Kylie Minogue Tops British Poll

Australian pop star Kylie Minogue has topped a poll of Britain's most powerful celebrities.

"Kylie is widely accepted as an adopted Brit. People know her, like her and she is surrounded by positive buzz," express quoted a source as saying.

The singer beat soccer player David Beckham and singer Cheryl Cole to get the number one slot. Apart from Minogue, the only other non-British celebrity to land a place in the top ten was Hollywood actor George Clooney.
